Just because the robots want to destroy us doesn’t mean we automatically loathe their very existence. Sure, most of these heartless buckets of bolts aren’t worth our compassion, but there are a few so brilliant, so lovable or so downright hilarious but we can’t help but smile even as they pull our still-beating heart from our chest. We’ll love these robots through thick and thin, even as they wipe us from the face of the Earth.
5. The Cylons; Battlestar Galactica

When the Cylons (aka the Frakking Toasters) set about their grand plan to wipe out humanity you couldn’t help but admire the brilliance. They managed to, in one fell swoop, infiltrate humanity’s defense network, drop nuclear devices on all Twelve Colonies and nearly exterminate the human race in a span of mere hours. They likely would have succeeded entirely if only they had waited a few more days until after the Galactica had been fully decommissioned and turned into a museum. Ultimately though their entire plan failed due to little more than poor timing. Given the remorse some of them eventually felt for trying to eradicate humanity and their subsequent betrayal of their own kind we’ll just call…

When preparing to do battle with hordes of murderous automatons, the first thing you’ll need is knowledge, because if GI Joe taught us anything, knowledge is power. With that in mind, we bring you a list of required reading, which should better prepare you to do battle against the machine menace. They may eventually overwhelm you with sheer numbers, but if you know what you’re fighting at least you’ll send a bunch of them to robot hell first.
I, Robot; Isaac Asimov

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Most any science-fiction fan knows the Three Laws of Robotics by heart, the creation of writer Isaac Asimov. The Laws first appeared in I, Robot, a collection of short stories which have influenced sci-fi at pretty…

We all know there’s no real threat of a Zombie Apocalypse, but the Robot Rebellion? Well it’s just a matter of time before the machines rise up and either enslave or kill us all. With that in mind, Wandake is proud to announce Robo-Readiness Week, our desperate attempt to give humanity a fighting chance.
Throughout the week we’ll be posting critical survival info right here on the blog, including a required reading list and tips on what to do when confronted by a killer robot. Also, in a last-ditch effort to prepare humanity for the coming war, we’re giving away the iPhone version of Robokill for free July 27-31. Our hope is that the game will help humans with their development of vital combat strategies along the lines of “never stop moving” and “always be on the lookout for a bigger gun.”
You can keep up with all the latest Robo-Readiness info by following us on Twitter (@wandakegames) or checking the blog for vital readiness info.. Good luck out there, and remember that today’s friendly toaster is tomorrow’s murderous robot overlord.

Looks like all our hard work has paid off as Wandake has been listed as one of Develop’s 100 best studios. We’re so proud to be among the who’s who in development, listed alongside industry heavyweights such as Nintendo, Rockstar, and Bungie. We currently rank as number 84 on the list sandwiched right between Harmonix and Funcom. While we do enjoy the company, we’ve got big plans to move closer to the top thanks to some great projects we’ve got sitting in the pipeline.
Still, to be listed in the top 100 developers after only a year in existence is both gratifying and humbling, and we want to thank all our fans who have helped us make it so far, so fast. We make these games because we love them, and we honestly hope you love them too. While we don’t do it for the accolades it sure is nice to be noticed, and honors like these further inspire us to work even harder and make games that are even better. Stay tuned, we can’t wait to show you what we’re working on next.

PopCap Games, purveyors of digital crack such as Peggle and Plants vs. Zombies, have signed a special deal with Amazon granted the service the exclusive right to sell PopCap titles on Android devices for the first two weeks the app is available. Financial information on the deal was not disclosed, but the agreement does include a clause which will see every new PopCap game as a free download for 24 hours after launch. After that point all PopCap apps will cost $2.99.
“Our relationship with Amazon is pivotal to PopCap’s overall strategy in bringing a growing roster of mobile titles to the ever-widening base of smartphone users,” said Giordano Bruno Contestabile, PopCap’s senior director of global product and business strategy for mobile. “By making these titles available on the Android platform, we’ll significantly extend the reach of our top franchises to legions of new mobile customers and gaming fans alike.”
The company has announced that Chuzzle will be the first game available on the service and will remain exclusive until May 30th. Plants vs. Zombies is also slated to appear on Amazon sometime later this month.
It will be interesting to see how the 24…

One of the more popular, yet more annoying trends in mobile gaming is the existence of incentivized apps. The basic idea is that a couple developers get together and come up with a way to cross-promote their games by asking you to download the sponsored app and get some sort of in-game bonus as a reward. Often, the prize is virtual and ultimately worthless, a few extra coins or credits so you can advance your current game at a faster rate. Though the arrangements have proven themselves successful time and again Apple may be about to put an end to it all, as there are rumblings that the company is looking to crack down on such apps.
Why is the company so upset? Well like almost everything else in the world it’s all an issue of money. Under normal arrangements Apple makes 30% on each downloaded app, which can add up to a pretty penny when you consider the sheer volume of options available on the App Store. However, incentivized apps work differently, and their structure allows the development companies involved to split the revenue however they wish, all while withholding…

After a long, painful absence You Don’t Know Jack, the immensely popular trivia franchise of the 90s, finally made its console debut earlier this year. While the game didn’t set any sales records or reignite a huge, passionate revival for the franchise it did manage to delight and entertain fans of the old PC games. Now the Jack Attack is spreading once more, as Jellyvision has confirmed that a version of the game will soon be available on iOS devices.
The new edition of the title will feature 20 “episodes” and showcase traditional multiple choice questions as well as unique styles such as DisOrDat, Cookie’s Fortune, Jack Attack and Funky Trash. The game will also be hosted by everyone’s favorite master of ceremonies, Cookie Masterson. The game is also getting some iOS-specific love in the form of Game Center integration via leaderboards and achievements. While local multiplayer is confirmed we don’t yet know if the game will support online play sessions via wireless or Bluetooth. Still, it’s usually more fun to screw your neighbor when they’re actually sitting right next to you, though doing it to someone online means they’re rarely within range to punch you in…

Good news today as we’ve taken some time out of blasting ruthless robots to team up with the fine folks at TenOne Design to make Robokill Fling compatible. In case you haven’t heard of Fling yet, it’s an awesome new controller that attaches right onto your iPhone or iPad and allows you to play games using an actual thumbstick rather than relying on the onscreen controls. Obviously we still have much love for our virtual controllers, but this new addition will help you survive those killer ambushes in late stages as well as power through more waves in Survival mode than ever before. Once you get started you’ll probably wonder how you survived this long without an assist from Fling.
Using Fling is super-simple, all you have to do is use the suction cups built-into the design to stick the controller on your screen so that it overlays the onscreen joystick. iPad users can even use Robokill’s built-in mappable controls to fine-tune stick placement and get Fling into the most comfortable position possible. From there, all you have to do is sit back and start wreaking havoc on any murderous bots who dare venture into…
